WHAT WE DO
The overarching goals of Taos School Zone:
Health and wellness
These goals are applicable to any school or school system. We remain committed to measurable improvements in these areas.
We believe that Taos has all the resources we need to create better outcomes for children, but that we all need to work together for better collective impact.
Our collective impact efforts are divided into three areas:
Working in these three areas with dozens of partners, together we are developing shared and measurable goals for the short and long-term.
Our community school initiative arose out of many conversations among nonprofits about impediments to their involvement with schools. In 2019, TSZ raised more than $100,000 to hire and train Taos's first community school site coordinator, at Enos Garcia Elementary. By the end of the 2019-2020 school year, four schools in Taos County had applied for and received community school implementation funding from the New Mexico Public Education Department.
